  • GRANTING OF POLISH CITIZENSHIP

  • Polish citizenship granted by the President of the Polish Republic. Application to the President of the Republic of Poland residents make through the Mayor or Voivode, and living abroad - through the Consul.

     

    According to the current regulation on Citizenship Act of April 2, 2009, the following documents should be submitted:

     

    • The application with the cover latter
    • Current valid passport/travel document/ID card confirming identity and nationality of the applicant
    • Permanent or temporary residence card/ Karta Pobytu, if the alien is/was permitted to settle or reside on Polish territory,
    • Autobiography in Polish language
    • Original of the Birth Certificate
    • Original marriage certificate or other document indicating marital status (if ever changed),
    • The copy of the spouse passport or National ID Card (if applicable)
    • Document stating the lack of Polish citizenship or exemption or renunciation of Polish citizenship if the applicant or his ascendants that citizenship had, possibly certified copy thereof,
    • The documents which include information about parents or ascendants, if they possessed Polish citizenship
    • Two current passport’s photo
    • The documents confirming information on sources of income, professional achievements, political and social activities
    • The consular fee

    Documents issued in a foreign language shall be accompanied by their translations into Polish language done by a sworn translator registered in Poland.

     

    In addition, the Consular Department announces that the application for Polish citizenship involving a minor child, where:

     

    • A Polish citizen apply for both parents - must be accompanied by a copy of the child's birth certificate,
    • A Polish citizen applies for one of the parents - must be accompanied by a copy of the child's birth certificate and a document of expression, the competent local Mayor or the Polish Consul, the consent of the other parent for the child of Polish citizenship if the other parent is a Polish citizen,
    • The child is sixteen years old - must be accompanied by a copy of the birth certificate and a written statement of the child to consent to granting the Polish citizenship or granting extension to his person.


    If the application for Polish citizenship for a child was under the care of, the application shall be accompanied by a written statement of the child's guardian to consent to granting the Polish citizenship, made before the Polish Consul.
