Polska Półka – Polish Bookshelf Project curator Clarinda Calma speaks about her favourite books, the value of Polish literature and the aim of the Polska Półka – Polish Bookshelf Project.

The Polska Półka – Polish Bookshelf Project aims to spread knowledge about Poland by enriching local public libraries throughout the UK with Polish literature and books about Poland. The project is a result of a collaboration between the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in London, the Polish Cultural Institute and the Polish Book Institute with support from the Polish Educational Centre Literka, the European's Welfare Association and the Polish Educational Society. A series of cultural events in local libraries around the country are accompanying the project. It is hoped that through it, more interest in Poland and Central Europe may be inspired, especially at the local community level. The project has been created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence and to commemorate 250 years of Polish-British diplomatic relations.
